L.A. show has star quality .

LOS ANGELES - If the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show is any indication, the truck boom shows no signs of letting up.

Trucks, sport-utilities and variations in between dominated the introductions at the Los Angeles show, which normally is known for its environmental products.

General Motors' 2001 Pontiac Aztek marks a series of firsts for the automaker: It is GM's first entry into the growing segment of car-based sport-utilities and the company's first vehicle for North America to be built using modular assembly. Front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions are planned; sales begin in June.
